B.K. Rekhatex was established in 1964 as a trading partnership. Gulab Melwani, the true founding father of the company, set the foundation of it’s remarkable growth.
A horse racing enthusiast, he initially worked as a salesman for BKR.
One Saturday evening in 1966, he went to the Happy Valley race course and won a bet from which he used to buy shares in the company. By 1982 he had full ownership of BKR.
It is from these humble beginnings that BKR earned the reputation of being one of the most dependable export houses in Asia.
Today it has expanded its portfolio to include a host of successful business ventures worldwide.
